Left Over Photos 2: Coopers Rock

The majority of the trails we hike at Coopers Rock are rugged and rock filled. This portion is not and it screams "West Virginia" to me. Click on the photo to enlarge.

One More From Coopers Rock

I made a lot of panoramas yesterday.

When I looked at this one again, I realized I had to post it.

I'm using a program called Calico on the Mac. This pano would have been impossible without the ability to stitch horizontally and vertically. This was made from 12 photos. 4 photos wide by 3 photos high. And, it handled the details perfectly. The software is available for Mac and PC. Autopano Pro ($119, Windows, Mac), Serif Panorama Plus ($49.99, Windows), and Calico ($39, Mac).

Hiking At Coopers Rock

One of the best view spots in West Virginia is Coopers Rock.

"Coopers Rock State Forest gets its name from a legend about a fugitive who hid from the law near what is now the overlook." - coopersrockstateforest.com

It's also a great place to hike and has become a yearly ritual for us. We hike "Rattlesnake Trail," a rocky trail that winds under the overlook and through the large rock outcroppings that make this place unique.

You can view a short highlight video of our hike here.
